Day 1
Delhi: Arrive Delhi. You will be met, assisted and transferred to your hotel. Indias capital & a major gateway to the country, Delhi is contemporary and a bustling metropolis which successfully combines in its fold the ancient & the modern. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 2
Guwahati: Proceed to airport to catch your flight to Guwahati. Arrive Guwahati and check in to your hotel. Later, take a cruise on the Brahmaputra River up to the Umananda Temple. Visit to the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalashetra which is an arts and culture complex that displays local arts and crafts. Overnight in Guwahati.
Day 3
Shillong: Proceed to visit the Kamakhya Temple; this temple has a beehive structure in the medieval style. Visit Sualkuchi, which is also known as the silk village. The village is famous for its silk weaving industry. Later, visit Haja, which has great religious significance since it includes shrines of three major religions- Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism. Drive to Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 4
Shillong: Proceed for a day trip to Cherrapunjee… the wettest place on earth. Cherrapunjee is a place of immense natural beauty. Over hundreds of years, the Khasi people have created bridges using the living roots of the Indian rubber tree to create bridges to help them cross rivers and streams. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 5
Shillong: Proceed to visit the visit the museum at the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures (DBCIC). Later, explore the Butterfly Museum. Also visit the Shillong Golf Course, which is the largest and wettest golf course in Asia. This is a naturally laid out course that is often called the St. Andrews of the East. You will also explore the area of Wards Lake. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 6
Tezpur: Drive to Tezpur (220 kms/ 7 hrs). Arrive Tezpur and check in to your hotel. Situated on the north bank of the Brahmaputra, Tezpur is a beautiful and multifaceted city steeped in mythology and history, and is considered the cultural capital of Assam. Overnight in Tezpur.
Day 7
Kaziranga: Drive to Kaziranga National Park (80 kms/ 2 hrs) a world heritage site, a tiger reserve, a national park, an important bird area. Apart from being a rich natural habitat for the great Indian One-horned Rhinos, Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary also has a sizable population of the Wild Buffalos and Indian Elephants. Overnight in Kaziranga.
Day 8
Kaziranga: Proceed to take a mahout guided elephant safari in the central range of the park. This will give you an opportunity to observe the rhino at close quarters. Kaziranga is one of the few wild breeding areas outside Africa for multiple species of large cats, such as Indian Tigers and Leopards. It is also home to a variety of migratory birds, water birds, predators, scavengers, and game birds. Post lunch at the hotel, you will continue your safari by jeep. Overnight in Kaziranga.
Day 9
Dibrugarh: Drive to Dibrugarh (220 kms/5 hrs); enroute visit the Ahom monuments and temples at Sivasagar. A cluster of structures built by the Ahoms still survive and include a palace, temples, tanks and amphitheatre. Arrive Dibrugarh and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Dibrugarh.
Day 10
Dibrugarh: Proceed to the Jokai Reserve Forest. Take tour around a tea estate and soak in the luscious greenery and serenity around you. Later, head to the riverfront for a boat cruise on the mighty Brahmaputra River. The cruise will take you up to a river island in the midst of the Brahmaputra. En route you will see flocks of migratory birds, and perhaps even the elusive Gangetic River Dolphin. Overnight at Dibrugarh.
Day 11
Wakro: Drive to Wakro (190 kms/ 4 hrs). Wakro; En-route, visit the village of Empong to see the Khampti tribes. Also, visit the Buddhist Gompa here, which is the largest of the kind in the region. Arrive Wakro and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Wakro.
Day 12
Wakro: Proceed to visit the local Mishmi tribal villages including Kanjan, Thomba and Pukhuri. Also visit Parasuramkund, which is considered a holy pilgrimage site for Hindus. Overnight in Wakro.
Day 13
Dibrugarh: Drive to Dibrugarh (190 kms / 4 hrs). Visit the local market and temple. Also, visit the weaving centre. Overnight in Dibrugarh.
Day 14
Delhi: Proceed to airport to catch your flight to Delhi. Arrive Delhi and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 15
Onwards: Proceed for a half day tour of Old and New Delhi. Visit Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, drive past Red Fort, President House, India Gate and several other government buildings. Visit Raj Ghat, the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, and Humayun’s Tomb. Later, proceed to the airport to board the flight for your onward destination.
