Day 1
Arrive Auckland
Once you have collected your luggage and completed arrival formalities, please make your way outside the terminal to the designated shuttle transfer area where you will meet your Super Shuttle driver and be transferred to your hotel.

Please note for Supershuttle shared transfers clients are not met inside the airport terminal.  Once clients have completed Immigration and customs formalities and collected their luggage please proceed to the arrivals hall and make their way to the coach transfer bays located outside the arrivals area.
 
AUCKLAND - an exciting, sporting and cultural city, sprawled on a narrow isthmus, between two harbours. The Waitemata and Manukau Harbours, are a main feature of the city, along with numerous volcanic cones such as Mount Eden and Rangitoto Island. The citys many beaches, marinas and parks, make it ideal for outdoor pursuits such as yachting, rugby, cricket or a day at the beach. The Auckland metropolitan area is New Zealands biggest city, and the population mix of European, Maori, and Pacific Islander, make Auckland the largest Polynesian city in the World.
 
Sky Tower Admission
Admission include to the main observation deck of Sky Tower. Sky Tower - The Sky Tower which at 328 metres high offers a clear view towards the Pacific Ocean as well as of the city of Auckland.
 
Day 2

Auckland / Bay of Islands
Great Sights - GS8/23 Auckland to Paihia/ Bay of Islands Sightseeing/Includes Waitangi Treaty House - Departs Auckland 0730 hrs

0730 hrs: Board your Great Sights coach in Auckland this morning and travel through spectacular scenery of native forests and sub-tropical bush to the foreshores of the National Maritime Park, arriving at the seaside town of Paihia in the Bay of Islands. Continue on to Waitangi which is regarded as the birthplace of New Zealand. Northland is both rich in culture and early Maori and European history. This tour includes admission into the Waitangi Treaty House and a guided tour of the grounds by local guides will give you an insight into this special and spiritual place. The Waitangi National Trust estate comprises of 506 hectares and includes the site where the Treaty of Waitangi (agreement between the Maori Chiefs of New Zealand and Britain) was first signed on 06 February 1840. Lord and Lady Bledisloe purchased the estate in 1932 and gave it in trust to the people of New Zealand to enjoy. At the conclusion of your trip you will be returned to your accommodation in Paihia.
 
BAY OF ISLANDS - This was the name given by Captain James Cook when he described the area 200 years ago. The Bay, studded with over 150 islands, is a "drowned river system," an area where the sea has invaded and drowned a number of river valleys. Its sheltered waters offer some of the finest boating and fishing to be found anywhere. The Bay of Islands was the site of the first Christian Mission station in New Zealand, as well as having New Zealands first capital city, Russell, which is now a quiet little seaside village.

Fullers Cape Reinga Wanderer (7.30am-6.30pm)

Today, you will be collected from your hotels by Fullers Tours. This fantastic Cape Reinga tour will take you on a journey through the magnificent natural wonders of the North. You will be over-awed by the grandeur of the mighty Kauri trees, the expanse of Ninety Mile Beach and the mystique of Cape Reinga. There are numerous stops for you to take in the scenic highlights and activities. They start with the easy twenty minute boardwalk through the Puketi Kauri Forest. Thunder along Ninety Mile Beach to the top of New Zealand and wander out to the lighthouse. Ride sand sledges if you dare! Take a swim and dig for shellfish. See the picturesque village of Mangonui on your return journey to Paihia.

Tour Departs Paihia 7.30 a.m. and Returns 6.30 p.m.
 
Day 4

Bay of Islands / Auckland
Great Sights Paihia to Auckland coach only. Dropoffs to Hotels start from 8.15pm and conclude approximately 30 minutes later subject to traffic and order of drop-offs.

This morning please leave your bags at your hotels reception desk, as your luggage will be collected from your hotel between the hours of 11:30hrs - 16:15hrs by your Great Sights coach driver.

16:15hrs Reporting time at the Great Sights office at Maritime Wharf, Paihia. Before boarding please identify your luggage onboard your coach.

16:30hrs Join your Great Sights coach at the Maritime Wharf, for your return journey to Auckland. A stop is made for afternoon tea/early dinner (own expense) before arriving in Auckland this evening - the city lights look spectacular while crossing the Harbour Bridge.


The afternoon departure time allows you to spend a full day in the beautiful Bay of Islands before returning to Auckland. For ideas on activities and tours during your stay in the Bay of Islands see

At the end of your journey, enjoy the spectacular views from the Auckland Harbour Bridge as you arrive in Aucklands central city by night. Arrive into Auckland at approximately 20:15hrs.
 
Day 5

Auckland / Waitomo caves / Rotorua
Great Sights Waitomo Glow worm Caves Auckland to Rotorua, Lunch not Included (8am - 1.30pm) Dropoffs to Hotels start from 1.30pm and conclude approximately 30 minutes later subject to traffic and order of drop-offs.

Today you will be picked up from your hotel by Great Sights and travel south from Auckland through the rich farmland of the Waikato on to Waitomo.

Enjoy a guided tour through the long galleries and lofty chambers of the World Famous Glow worm Caves. Your tour continues with a boat ride through the Glow worm Grotto, illuminated by thousands of tiny lights from the glow worms suspended from the cave ceiling. Following your tour there is time for lunch (lunch is at your own expense). Continue to Rotorua by coach.
 
ROTORUA - located on a volcanic plateau, and formerly a spa town, Rotorua is most famous for its geothermal activity. Rotorua is the main place in New Zealand where aspects of Maori traditions can be seen, from wood carvings, and meeting houses, to a Hangi Dinner and Maori dances. Native and introduced tree species abound locally and combined with several picturesque lakes, Rotorua is a fascinating mix of culture and nature.

Day 6

Rotorua
Great Sights Discover Rotorua Morning Sights (7.25am - 12.15pm) Dropoffs to Hotels start from 12.15pm and conclude approximately 20 minutes later subject to traffic and order of drop-offs.

Today, you will be collected from your hotel by Great Sights. Included in your half-day tour is a visit to Te Puia where you can view mighty geysers, boiling mud pools, and the traditional arts & culture of the Maori People; Rainbow Springs - a unique showcase of New Zealands flora and fauna including New Zealands national icon, a kiwi bird; and Agrodome Sheep Show - a hands-on experience giving you an animated insight into New Zealands farming history.
 
Day 7

Rotorua / Queenstown
Transfer from Hotel to Airport
Today, you will be collected from your accommodation by a representative of Super Shuttle and transfer by seat in coach to Rotorua Airport.

Once you have collected your luggage and completed arrival formalities, please make your way outside the terminal to the designated shuttle transfer area where you will meet your Super Shuttle driver and be transferred to your hotel.

Please note for Supershuttle shared transfers clients are not met inside the airport terminal.  Once clients have completed Immigration and customs formalities and collected their luggage please proceed to the arrivals hall and make their way to the coach transfer bays located outside the arrivals area.
 
QUEENSTOWN - is the South Islands most popular resort, set alongside the shores of Lake Wakatipu, under the gaze of the Remarkables Ranges. See the contrast of smooth glacier rounded hills, and jagged mountain summits that reach high above the ancient ice floor. The town is renowned for its jet boating, bungy-jumping, skiing and awe-inspiring scenery. Local story has it, that the gold prospectors of the 19th century pronounced the town as "fit for any Queen", and so she was called Queenstown.
 
Day 8

Coach / Milford Sound Scenic Cruise / Coach ex Queenstown
Real Journeys Coach / Milford Sound Scenic Cruise / Coach ex Queenstown (Pickups from 6.45am returns 19.30hrs)

Today, you will be collected from your hotel by Real Journeys and travel from Queenstown along the shores of Lake Wakatipu, and through rolling countryside to Te Anau. After a short break at Te Anau, continue via the spectacular Milford Road, to Milford Sound. Board your Real Journeys vessel for a cruise the entire length of Milford Sound to the Tasman Sea. There are excellent viewing opportunities of waterfalls, rainforest, mountains and wildlife. Return transport to Queenstown at the conclusion of your cruise is provided.
 
MILFORD SOUND:  Stunning surroundings at the heart of Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Area. In Maori legend, the fiords were created not by rivers of ice, but by Tu Te Raki Whanoa, a godly figure who came wielding a magical adze uttering incantations. Milford Sound (Piopiotahi) is without doubt his finest sculpture. Luxuriant rainforest clings to sheer rock walls washed with waterfalls. In the foreground stands Mitre Peak, dominating the skyline. Whatever the fiords mood, teeming with rain or with sun glistening on deep water, it will inspire you.

Depart on the Shotover Jet courtesy coach to Shotover River.  From the moment the accelerator hits the floor your adrenaline hits the roof as you speed in mere centimetres of water along the famous Shotover River and deep into the spectacular Shotover River Canyons.  Its an amazing ride, as the Shotover Canyon walls tower over you, your expert driver puts your Big Red through its paces and skilfully whips the Jet Boat past rocky outcrops, skims around crags and boulders, and speeds through the narrow canyons. Rock faces blur in your peripheral vision, the opaque water sprays into myriads of white crystals with every turn, and you grip the hand rail for comfort and reassurance and then let out a whoop of excitement as your driver spins the boat around in its own boat length - wow, youve just experienced the World famous Shotover Jet full 360 degree spin. Hold on tight and enjoy the thrill as you spin and without losing momentum keep speeding along the river. Following your jet boat ride you will be returned to Queenstown by the Shotover courtesy coach.

Minimum child height to travel is 1 mtrs in height. On some days where river levels require it, child height requirement may be 1.2mtrs to travel. This is purely a safety requirement and will be strictly adhered to.

It takes a certain kind of person to jump from an aircraft at 15,000ft into thin air.  It takes courage.  Harnessed by space age materials to an experienced qualified Jumpmaster, you step out that aircraft door and for some 60 seconds you plummet toward the ground at 200kph, Terminal Velocity.

Starting at the NZONE Shop you can select your photo and video options, the courtesy bus departs from here to the skydive Dropzone and private airstrip set amid a rural farmland background. At the Dropzone viewing area, you will be able to see other skydivers both in the sky and coming into land.  Your skydive host will assist you to gear up and you will be briefed by a Tandem Master.  Your flight to altitude will take you high above the Wakatipu basin, where you will have a birds eye view of the dramatic mountains and lakes.  Jumping directly above the Dropzone you will experience freefall of up to 60 seconds before your Tandem Master deploys the parachute and together you glide back to earth.  The canopy ride takes approximately 5 minutes.  

Please note: Skydiving is a weather dependant activity and will not know if they are flying until the day of the jump. The whole experience lasts approximately 3 ½ hours.

Day 10

Queenstown

Appellation Central Wine Tours Boutique Wine Tour (12pm-5pm) (from 11 am 27 Dec - 11 Jan)
Today you will be collected from by a representative from Appellation Wine Tours and spend an afternoon among the boutique vineyards and spectacular scenery of Central Otago, a perfect introduction to the region.

Included in todays tour is Tasting at 4 wineries in the Gibbston, Cromwell and Bannockburn regions, a delightful platter style lunch at Carrick Winery restaurant. A visit to historic Old Cromwell Town (time and weather permitting) and stunning drive through the Kawarau Gorge whilst learning about the early pioneering history of this rugged region.  Before completing you tour and returning to Queenstown, view the historic Kawarau Bridge and the original AJ Hackett Bungy jump.

Queenstown to Franz Josef

0810hrs Today you will travel via Haast Pass to Franz Josef Glacier with Intercity Coachlines.
1610hrs Arrive in Franz Josef late afternoon and check in at your hotel and enjoy a free evening in Franz Josef Glacier.

FRANZ JOSEF GLACIER - originally named Victoria, after Queen Victoria of England, geologist Julius Von Haast, renamed it, Franz Josef, after the current Emperor of his homeland, Austria. The Glacier is pale blue/green ice that has retreated and advanced many times over the years. A walk from the carpark to the Glacier terminal will give you some impressive views and an idea of the immense size of the Glacier itself. The township of Franz Josef is a small town based around the tourist and supply trade.

This is a fantastic introduction to an enthralling world of ice. A short Heli hop from the township of Franz Josef takes you into the remarkable Pinnacles area of the glacier. Here your guide will navigate you through a maze of ice and explain the dramatic environmental changes over the last few years. You will explore the awe-inspiring landscape in this incredible experience through Franz Josef Glacier. The Ice Explorer hike includes entry into the fabulous Glacier Hot Pools!


All visitors and guides are equipped with the best in quality equipment.

Tranz Scenic Greymouth to Christchurch

Today you will board the TranzAlpine scenic train departing from one coast of New Zealand and arriving at the other. Your train journey is 223.8 kilometres long and takes just four and a half hours. There are 16 tunnels, and 5 viaducts, the highest being the Staircase standing at 73 metres. From your carriage youll see the fields of the Canterbury Plains, beautiful gorges and river valleys of the Waimakariri River. The spectacular Southern Alps and the lushness of Beech rain forest. An open air viewing carriage allows you to get even closer to the stunning scenery and provides many opportunities to photograph your favourite spots. Theres a lot to look forward to before arriving at your destination.

CHRISTCHURCH - the Garden City, lies on the level plains that initially attracted the closely knit Church of England settlers that settled the area. The largest of the South Island cities, Christchurch retains something of the English nature of its origins - the willow and oak-lined River Avon and clustered mediaeval stone buildings.

This morning you will be met in the lobby of your hotel by a representative of Canterbury Leisure Tours for your excursion to Kaikoura.


Spend the day getting close to nature.  Travel by road through the rolling hill country of North Canterbury, enjoying the beauty of its rural pastoral scenes, to Kaikoura where mountains meet sea.  Kaikoura is world renowned for the variety of marine mammals which can be seen, not least of all the giant sperm whales and the acrobatic Dusky Dolphins. On your arrival in Kaikoura you will be transferred to a whale watch tour by boat.  Lunch on own arrangements.  In the afternoon you will visit a seal colony where fur seals may be viewed at close quarters.  On return to Christchurch a stop will be made at a North Canterbury vineyard where a wine tasting has been arranged for your pleasure.
